The problem being Unholy is nearly fully spell based minus Plague Strike and Blood Strike making this stat incredibly weak overall like Agility is.

Those builds using heavy strike or melee damage (most notably Blood) will gain the most of out this stat whereas Unholy will gain significantly less.

Armor Penetration is now a strong stat for some Death Knights. Depending on spec it can benefit more (Two Hand Weapon Specialization from Blood specifically helps this stat a lot)Īrmor Penetration - This stat has lead to some confusion amongst newer Death Knights. It helps talents such as Necrosis - Blood Caked Blade as well as white damage and etc. Haste - Generally disdained by most Death Knights, it's a subpar stat for Unholy. Make sure to remember that :) This makes the stat incredibly weak for Unholy. Crit gained from Agility only affects melee therefore not affecting Death Coil - Icy Touch - Blood Boil. Also a reason to why Chaotic meta is the best currently.Īgility - A questionable stat overall for Death Knights. A huge factor in the debate of Crit vs Agil. Requires far less pure crit for 1% crit then Agility for % crit. Crit just tends to scale weaker for Unholy then other specs. Wandering Plague does do wonders with a decent crit rating as to why 17/0/54 builds were prevalent as the gear friendly spec for a long time. It's slightly lacking due to the fact that Unholy benefits less from crit due to talents, the problem being Unholy does have Vicious Strikes, a core dps talent but overall the lack of abilities/talents that can crit that produce beneficial dps overall is lacking. Also take note that talents like Veteran of Third War, Ravenous Dead and the like increase Strength by %, therefore making the stat even stronger vs Attack Power.Ĭrit - A strong stat overall for dps. It's great but not something to stack over Strength due to strength's conversion as well as Blessing of Kings affecting Strength but not Attack Power. In the argument of Strength > AP, one must also make note of Rune of Fallen Crusader as it gives a 15% strength increase on proc.Īttack Power - The basis of damage increase for abilities. All abilities a DK has are Attack Power based. Strength provides 2 Attack Power per 1 point making it more efficient to stack then Attack Power. Strength - One of the strongest dps per point stats possible after Hit Cap. The Expertise cap untalented is 26, Rage of Rivendare (5/5) puts Expertise Cap at 21 for Unholy. Faerie Fire gives 3% effectively making spell hit cap at 11%, Draenei racial (only for those who are Draenei or in group with one) drops it to 10% which is very easy to obtain in Ulduar content.Įxpertise - Expertise is the stat that prevents dodges from occurring (as with Parry, but mobs will not Parry attacks unless you're in front which unless fight demands so, you should not be.) This stat is less crucial for Unholy then Blood. Virulence gives 3% and either Misery or Imp. Depending upon spec/raid composition having slightly higher then 8% hit rating is acceptable. The current caps are 8% (~263 hit rating) for melee and 17% for spell. Hit Rating - Until cap this stat provides the most dps per point as it prevents certain abilities from missing. Ok, since we don't have any dedicated Unholy's willing to create this thread for everyone I'll cover it until someone respectable will :)
